Frank Wooles NODA News |
It was good to see the progress and increase in confidence in this youth theatre company since their original production last October of Peter Pan. This venture into space pushed back the boundaries in a well organised and drilled production by Jane Donoghue and under the musical guidance of David Lawrence at the Howardian Arts Centre, Cardiff in May. Under the command of space hero ‘Sam Galactic’, nicely played and sung by Damian Robinson, and the heroine ‘Dazzle Star’ played with assurance by talented Sarah Lark the Star Ship and its zany crew took us on a journey of mayhem and mirth. In a large cast there were many performances to catch the eye and a lot of the credit must go to choreographer Victor Atkins who did a great job in training the young performers in some interesting and punchy routines. And also two hard-working musicians David Laugharne and John Murray who did sterling work with a score full of attractive fun numbers and managed to sound like a full orchestra. A happy show where the enthusiasm and enjoyment of the youngsters was infectious. |
