Sure Thing Extracts from the Glammies Moderator's report
|
... "This was a difficult play made to look very easy." ... "This was a very popular performance both on this night and at the One Act festival in Swansea and given the 1 week duration of rehearsal, this production was an impressive achievement. Well done all!" ... "This was a pure delight - very demanding because although short there's no margin for error and it must be very difficult to play a piece with so many near identical lines, but they pulled it off magnificently." |

Technical wizardry once more from Lucy Chiplin who finally got the in-house lighting and sound at Roath Church House to WORK! Sound operation by the ever-reliable Steve Donoghue. Superb support once again from the Littlechild family: Kelly on set making for Checkers as well as acting in Sure Thing, Kim for bell-ringing of the highest order, and their mother Annette for FOH and general all-round support throughout. |
| Dancing on Checkers' Grave, as the winner of the Youth Award at the One-Act Play Festival, was invited to submit itself for performance at the All Winners Festival, held in 2007 in Llandrindod Wells. Unfortunately, that festival's age limit for a youth cast is 21 years old, and Alex had just had her 21st birthday... |

| Special facts |
This was The Unknown Theatre Company's second foray into serious theatre. The double bill comprised Eric Lane's Dancing on Checkers' Grave and Sure Thing by David Ives. We'd already performed the plays at the Glamorgan Drama League One-Act Play festival the week before (Sure Thing wasn't actually an entry in the festival, as it's too short, but was included as a guest performance). See below in the Awards section....
